Nature: It’s yours to save!
Posted by: | Comments
There is none in the world who doesn’t enjoy the morning sun, the chirping of birds, the dewdrops on roses, the blooming buds, deepest valleys, widespread mountains, chill breeze or the greenish fields. Nature is a wonderful creation of the Almighty. God wanted man to overcome disappointments of materialistic life and hence he created nature. Just go and have a walk in the early morning you will be able to enjoy the beauty of nature and the calm and the quite situation will make you feel the sense of peace and pleasure.
All artificial things are created by man and so it lacks its virtue, whereas the nature by God is immortal like him. Nature will never cause harm to man-kind by itself. Natural calamities could happen only when the nature is disturbed by man. Man started destroying nature for his selfish needs. He cuts down trees, pollutes the rivers, drills the mountains, burns chemicals and dumps the land with waste materials. Due to his act, the land, water and air which are the basic necessities for living in this earth get polluted.
We never ever think of our future generation when we are doing harm to this beautiful nature. It is not us who are going to suffer by destroying nature. It will be our son and grand son who will be affected by our sin towards nature. It is thus in the hands of mankind to protect nature to safeguard a healthy environment. Nature gives pleasure; it gives shelter; it gives rain; it acts as a shield of protection for mankind and so it’s a must for us to preserve nature.
Nothing is static or permanent in this world mundane world. We are going back to the ABC of our existence. Most of the individuals are greatly concerned about the atmosphere and the climatic changes which cause great havoc to people in this mechanized world. Since each and every individual are greatly alarmed about their health they have become more sensitized towards the sensitive scents and chemicals that were in greater use in the earlier days.
All these might definitely cause suffering to an individual who suffers even from a mild asthma and therefore he / she might tend to avoid it completely. Even the commonly used nail polish, polish remover and perfume might be banished from their homes. An odorless and chemical free nail polish might be a great welcome but it is difficult to get such products.
Improve the environment – save 25% of the Population
Posted by: | CommentsTake care of the environment and it will take care of you. This is so true according to the World Health Organization.
Here are the sobering Health stats :
- “Nearly 25 percent of preventable illnesses are environmentally related, as estimated by the World Health Organization, improving the environment is one of the most important sustainable medicine practices we can advocate.”
- . . . Seven per cent of all patients admitted to acute care hospitals in Canada (or about 158,000 Canadians a year) will suffer a medical misadventure.
- Close to 60,000 of the 158,000 cases above are preventable.
- About 150 patients die a year as a result of adverse medical events.
HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP TO REDUCE HEALTH CARE’S CARBON FOOTPRINTS AND SAVE LIVES
HOSPITALS
- Use PVC-free analgesia pumps
- Use reprocessed devices instead of single- use devices
- Use Mercury-free blood pressure devices: (the per unit cost is higher, but the total cost of devices, factoring in the expense of environmental safeguards and having to replace cuffs, no doubt makes the mercury free products much less expensive over the long haul).
- Recycle lab solvents,
- Increase the use of energy efficient LED lighting.
- Increase the use of Chronic disease management devices
- Use tele-health services instead of going to emergency – Saves time and cost less
A drug-free environment
There is a hidden cost to prescribing medication: it may heal the body, but it hurts the environment and plays a crucial role in the life of every living being.”
NUTRITION
Hospitals and other health care facilities
- Use only local, organic nutritional, sustainable foods.
- Buy antibiotic-free meat
- Adopt menus that contain fewer processed foods
PHARMACIES
Take Back Sites for unused Drugs
- Bring awareness to communities and institution on best practices of disposing expired and unused medications
Green Pharmacy program
One reason drugs enter the environment is that patients have historically been advised to flush unused medications down toilets or sinks to prevent accidental poisonings or overdoses.
This has resulted in millions of pounds of drugs being virtually mainlined into the public water supply each year. Drugs that end up in landfills can leech into the ground water, and the residues are not removed by conventional water treatment.
